Yet another outstanding product unveiled at the recent KL International AV Show 2018 was Bryston’s latest surround sound processor, the SP4.
Effectively replacing the vaunted and much sought after SP3, the SP4 features a minimalist yet elegantly hewed aesthetics with an immensely solid feel to the touch.
Designed for installation in high end, cutting edge home theatre systems the SP4 is a 15.1 channel processor that is compatible with object-based surround formats such as Dolby Atmos, DTS-X and Auro-3D.
It also features up to seven HDMI inputs of which 3 are of the 2.0 variation and are HDCP2.2 compatible. In addition, there are three Toslink and three SPDIF digital audio inputs. Outputs include 16 balanced XLR types, 8 RCAs and two HDMIs.
The SP4 is also compatible with 4K HDR sources. An audio only processor the SP4 does not incorporate any video processing but it is able to pass through all video sources.
According to Bryston one of the most attractive feature of the SP4 is its non-obsolescent design that includes room for future audio upgrading via replaceable modular circuit boards.
