I find that ripping cd to 320 kbps sounds close to WAVcodec — or am Imagining things?
The wav file definitely sounds better. Hard to describe but it sounds more complete n coherent.

Are you comparing the 320kbps MP3 FILE with A 16/44.1 WAV file?

The MP3 file sounds CLOSE to the 16/44.1 file. Remember the MP3 file is smaller and to make it smaller, a lot of data is removed. If you listen very carefully, the harmonic richness is gone. Play a song with lots of acoustic instruments like guitar and piano. With a 16/44.1 WAV file, you will hear more harmonic richness. With the MP3 file, you will hear the fundamental notes and much less harmonics.
