Question about the feet of the Pro-Ject CD Box DS CD player
This is going to be a bit of an odd question I am sure. I recently purchased a Pro-ject CD Box DS second-hand from eBay. I had read your review of the unit before buying and I am very happy with this CD player. However, on the bottom of the unit, it has two different footers. Three of them are rounded knobs but one is a harder disc. I note in your review this: “It has a solid box that protects against vibration and interference and three soft and one hard feet. Since Pro-Ject is famed for its turntables which surely need as little vibration as possible, much attention has been paid to minimizing the detrimental effects of vibration in the CD player.” Did you mean that the CD player that you reviewed also had the two different footers? I am trying to resolve whether this is normal (and original) or whether the previous owner had altered them in some way. Any help you could provide would be appreciated.
From what I can recall, the Pro-Ject CD player had three feet with soft studs and one with a hard stud. So if that’s what your CD player has, then it’s original and has not been modified by the previous owner.
I believe the concept is to have three soft feet to decouple the CD player from what it is resting on and one hard foot to couple it and drain away the vibrations caused by the transport.
