I have discovered that burned DVDs can be played on some players while other players cannot read them. Why is this so?

Before you burn a DVD for your DVD player, you need to find out what DVD format the DVD player supports.

There might be several reasons:

  1. The player does not allow burned DVDs to be played due to antipiracy
  2. Quality of the DVD-R or DVD-RW. Similar to CD-R or CD-RW.
  3. The writing speed when the DVD was burned. Some DVD players cannot read DVDs that are burnt at 4x or higher speed.
