The TAD Grand Evolution One speakers and TAD C700 preamp were launched at AV Designs yesterday.
Those who attended the launch were treated to a demo session hosted by LS3/5a sifu Jo Ki, who played a selection of songs from opera to male and female singers rendering a Hakka and Cantonese song respectively.
The demo system comprised an Innuos Statement NG streamer and server, TAD DA1000TX-S DAC, TAD C700 preamp, TAD M-700S stereo power amp and the TAD GE-1 (Grand Evolution One) speakers. This is a very expensive and very high-end system. The TAD GE-1 speakers are listed at RM194,500 and the C700 preamp is listed at RM209,000.
This system will be showcased at the coming Kuala Lumpur International AV Show.
Suffice it to say that the TAD-based demo system sounded fabulous. The soundstage was enormous with excellent depth. The music was detailed, dynamic and very cohesive. There was no hint of harshness or hardness and the bass was deep and tight.
At its price range, the speakers should fare well against its competitors and may even take on speakers that cost up to RM300k.
