On Saturday, the music sounded dynamic and detailed in Begins Acoustic’s showroom in Puchong. The LuKang Spoey 200 speakers never sounded so good before.
It was obvious that the killer component in the demo system was the Gryphon Diablo 333 integrated amp that was in total control of the sound.
Just a few minutes of listening confirmed that the sound quality was very high even though the speakers and the Emerson Analog streamer playing Tidal tracks were not high end. It goes to show how a top-flight component like the Gryphon Diablo 333 integrated amp can make a mid-level system sound (almost) like a system costing several hundred thousand ringgit.

Begins Acoustic has become a dealer for YY Sound Systems and on Saturday, Kenix Chua and TK Han teamed up for the demo of the system comprising Emerson Anaiog streamer, Gryphon Diablo 333 integrated amp, Tiglon speaker cables and LuKang Spoey 200 speakers.
The star performer is, of course, the Gryphon Diablo 333 which is a most powerful beast — 333 watts (8 Ohms), 666 watts (4 Ohms) and 1,100 (2 Ohms). Such high power output coupled with a high damping factor result in a vice-like grip on the rhythm and bass.
What I heard that day was a large soundstage, great layering and imaging and a tight and controlled bass.
From the Gryphon website: “Our new Integrated boasts ten percent more output power than its legendary predecessor, but there’s more to 333’s performance than wattage alone. Circuit advancements and parts from the new Apex and Commander, Gryphon’s flagship Amplifier and Preamplifier, have trickled down to the Diablo 333. New, ultra-fast, pre-driver transistors deliver both enhanced musicality and superior measured performance while output devices—ten per channel—are identical to those found in our State-of-the-Art Apex. A massively augmented power supply distinguished by an oversized Holmgren Dual-Mono Transformer and 68,000uF per channel filter capacitance provide enormous dynamic headroom and explain the 333’s 50.6 Kg (112 lb) mass.”
Contact Kenix Chua for a listening session. The Gryphon Diablo 333 is expensive (more than RM100k) but it is worth listening to it to find out just how good it sounds.
