Audiophiles will be in for a major treat at HiFi Creations Reference System’ room at the coming Kuala Lumpur International AV Show because Victor Pheh, the owner, has become the distributor for Playback Design DACs and, some months ago, Clarisys Audio, which makes ribbon speakers.
Malaysian audiophiles will have the chance to hear the Clarisys ribbon speakers, which last appeared in Kuala Lumpur as an introductory demo unit at the KLIAVS 2015 (see https://www.av2day.com/2015/07/kliavs-2015-clarisys-the-resurrection-of-apogee/) There was a move to bring Clarisys into Malaysia two years ago, but it did not materialise (see https://www.av2day.com/2022/08/selling-clarisys-audio-ribbon-speakers-and-restoring-old-apogees/)
On top of that, audiophiles will be able to hear a DAC that has been missing from the Malaysian scene for many years — Playback Design.
Victor’s demo system will have the Clarisys Minuet Plus driven by an Accuphase power amp with the Playback Design MPD 8-AI DAC-preamp with the source being the Pink Faun 2.16 ULTRA streamer. Power conditioner will be the FARAD Super6. This is a pretty high-end system that should sound good.
KLIAVS 2024 will be held at The Gardens Hotel, Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur from Oct 25-27.
