On the first day of the Northern International AV Show 2025, which kicked off in Penang today, I heard three uber-expensive high-end systems costing more than a million ringgit each. This was a pleasant surprise for what started off as a modest regional AV show in June 2022.
In the demo room of The High End Audio, it appeared that the entire system from its showroom in Sungei Wang Plaza in Kuala Lumpur was transported to Penang. It comprised Goldmund Telos 1800 monoblocks, Goldmund Memesis Excellence preamp, Goldmund Memesis Excellence power supply, Goldmund Eidos Streamer and Goldmund Eidos SACD Player driving a pair of Focal Scala Utopia floorstanders. Cables were high-level ones from Siltech and Shunyata.
The second uber-expensive system was from Swedish Statement and comprised a pair of Marten Mingus Septet SE speakers, MSB S500 amplifier, Jorma Paragon power cords, MSB Cascade DAC and Lumin U2 Streaming Transport.
The third was in Audio Art’s room and it comprised Raidho TD 4.8 floorstanders, Audio Flight Strumento No. 8 Signature power amp, Soulnote P3 Reference Preamp, Soulnote S3 V2 SACD player, Acoustic Signature Double X Neo turntable and other products from Soulnote, Viborg and Lightspeed.
I think you will need to visit these three rooms first before going to the other demo rooms.
The NIAVS 2025 is open from 10am to 9pm on Saturday and from 10am to 6pm on Sunday. The venue is Setia SPICE Convention Centre, Penang, and entrance is free.
